In October 2010, we took the leap to move from the big city life of Dublin to the rather more sleepy hilltop village of Lacoste in the Luberon region of Provence, France. After some minor cultural adjustments, going from a population of 1.2 million to approximately 423 (but realistically approx 100 in the heart of Winter), getting familiar with the concept of how things are done in Provence versus Ireland….never agree to your electrician / plumber / landlord coming tommorow as that could mean next week or next month…..or indeed not expecting it to take 3.5 months to get our landline / internet approved and installed (hmmmm that wasn’t much fun France Telecom shame on you!) and of course actually experiencing the seasons changing here as opposed to one long 365 day semi Winter/Spring as per the last 30 years in Ireland….
I can promise you life here is truly wonderful, so much better than that terrible Ridley Scott adaptation so I hope you come in, enjoy and stay a while!
Here are a few of my favourite posts from Lacoste…..
